As generative artificial intelligence gradually takes hold within organizations, the question of how to deploy it in environments with stringent security, compliance, and sovereignty requirements remains unresolved.

As generative artificial intelligence gradually takes hold in organizations, the question of its deployment in environments with strict security, compliance, and sovereignty requirements remains a key challenge. It is against this backdrop that Craft AI was selected by MEDEF to deploy a sovereign conversational agent, designed to allow its staff and members to intelligently query its entire internal document corpus.
As the leading representative organization for businesses, with 240,000 member companies, MEDEF produces a significant volume of high-value content every year: position papers, expert and foresight reports, legal analyses, and committee minutes. This corpus represents nearly 20,000 documents accessible to thousands of employees and representatives from professional federations and regional MEDEF offices.
The diversity and volume of the documents produced, along with the multiplicity of access points, reflect the richness of MEDEF's work and call for a clearer, more structured organization of this content. To maximize its dissemination and impact among its members, MEDEF sought a solution to make its documentary heritage fully accessible and actionable.
The conversational agent developed by Craft AI is based on a RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architecture, which ensures that every generated response is based exclusively on the internal document corpus, with full traceability of the sources used. Users can query the database in natural language and obtain, depending on their needs, a summary, a detailed analysis, or ready-to-use talking points. Each response will explicitly indicate the reference documents, their publication date, and their issuing entity.
An automatic abstention mechanism will be integrated. When the confidence level is insufficient, the agent will signal the lack of a reliable answer rather than generating an approximate one. No answer is preferred over an unverifiable one, in order to guarantee the reliability of the information provided to the user.
Sovereignty is at the heart of the project. The entire solution is hosted in France or within the European Union, with no transfer or possible access from a third country. Any dependency on providers subject to extraterritorial legislation is excluded. The system is GDPR-compliant and incorporates the principles of the AI Act.
In a context where user trust determines the adoption of artificial intelligence, full and complete control over data is not an option but a prerequisite. MEDEF retains total control over its content, settings, and the responses produced, as well as the choice of model providers.
" Deploying generative artificial intelligence in an organization whose credibility relies on the rigor of its positions requires a high level of technical and legal standards. This project demonstrates that it is possible to reconcile performance, traceability, and sovereignty in concrete, operational use cases ," states Homéric de Sarthe, CEO of Craft AI.
